Nursing an in-season sporting injury? When should you seek professional advice?

Sporting injuries can be a daunting experience, especially when you're in the middle of your season. It is crucial to recognise when to seek professional advice to prevent further damage and ensure a smooth recovery.

Upon initial injury, our first word of advice is to stop training or playing as soon as possible and, where possible, observe the R.I.C.E injury guidelines: Rest, Ice (for the first two days), Compression, and Elevation. If you're experiencing persistent pain, swelling or a limited range of motion that doesn't improve with R.I.C.E and basic first aid, this is when we’d recommend it’s time to consult with a physiotherapist.

Early intervention can help diagnose the issue accurately, provide targeted treatment and create a personalised rehabilitation plan. Our Game Ready cryotherapy machine (as used by AFL and Rugby teams around the world), can accelerate your recovery by reducing swelling and promoting early healing.

Don't wait until the end of the season and potentially injure yourself further. Let’s take action now and get you back in the game stronger and faster!

Remember, not all physios are the same. Our very own Jason Wells is an accredited Sports Physiotherapist who has completed advanced training in Sports Medicine diagnosis and treatment and has worked at national and international sporting events including the Olympics and AFL.
