‍In the lead up to International Women’s Day held on March 8th, we are shining the spotlight on the amazing women who are part of our team at Mead Physio Group and to our wonderful female clients who allow us to work with them throughout all stages of life.
Prolapse is a condition that will affect 1 in 3 women during their lifetime and will often result in surgery. However, physiotherapy can significantly reduce the need for such surgery by undertaking specific and targeted pelvic floor exercises. Utilising Real Time Ultrasound available in our rooms, we are able to detect the type and extent of your abdominal and pelvic floor contraction and help train you to improve your control of this area. Similarly, incontinence is treated with physio as the first line of management as research has demonstrated overwhelming improvement when pelvic floor function is addressed with specific physio intervention.
Bone density issues are often revealed after a fall that has resulted in a fracture. Mead Physios are able to design and tailor a bone strengthening program for women with osteoporosis and osteopenia that are both safe and specific to the needs of the individual.
